Giving Back: Spotlight on Wildlife Conservation Society
Wildlife Conservation Society
As our human footprint continues to grow, our choices (such as where we live, what we eat, and how we shop) deeply impact our planet and all living things. Animal populations are declining at alarming rates due to human activities, and poaching and trafficking further threaten wildlife.
WCS envisions a world where wildlife thrives in healthy lands and seas, valued by societies that embrace and benefit from the diversity and integrity of life on earth. For over 120 years, WCS has been committed to saving wildlife and wild places through science, conservation action, education, and inspiring people to value nature.
WCS partners with communities and governments to protect priority species and habitats in nearly 60 countries and all of the world’s oceans. In the field, WCS develops science-based solutions to address wildlife crime and climate change, manage protected areas and fisheries, and continue other important work to protect the planet’s biodiversity.
In New York, WCS has provided immersive learning experiences for more than 400 million people at its five zoological parks, including the legendary Bronx Zoo. The ability to see wildlife firsthand helps inspire people to care about nature and support conservation programs around the world.
