Why Miami: I’ve been to Miami several times and it didn’t take long for it to quickly become a favorite of mine. This particular trip was a weekend girls getaway to celebrate one of my friends getting married! I love that every time I go, I discover new places and experiences.

When in Miami, check out…

Wynwood Arts District – Miami has a huge art scene and Wynwood is home to lots of cool art galleries, shops, bars and one of the largest street art installations in the world. Walk around the neighborhood and take in the amazing, colorful street art, murals and graffiti. Don’t forget to stop for tacos and a marg!

South Beach – When I think of Miami, I think of South Beach and Art Deco. Head to the beach for some sun and prime people watching and make sure to walk along Ocean Drive to check out the pastel art deco architecture, full of shopping, great restaurants, and nightlife.

Little Havana – Full of history and Cuban culture, Little Havana is a vibrant neighborhood that represents classic Miami. We’re talking cigar shops, Latin record stores and quaint restaurants. Every last Friday of the month, Little Havana hosts Viernes Culturales, a gallery night showcasing the local art scene.

What to eat…

It’s hard to find a place that does it wrong, but Versailles is a famous restaurant among both locals and tourists that serves up authentic Cuban in an amazing and somewhat kitschy, glass & mirror-lined interior. I can’t pick favorites: try the famous Cuban sandwich, rice and beans and empanadas!

What to drink…
No one does coffee like the Cubans, so I recommend the Cafecito or Cortadito for a jolt of energy.

What to pack…

Keep it light. Sunglasses and sandals are both necessities for the sun and hot temperature. A swimsuit and cover up will get you through most of the day, but when the nightlife heats up, everyone gets a little more colorful and dressy.
